International sales and distribution outfit LevelK has acquired world sales rights for the first Stan Original feature by first time feature director Mairi Cameron’s psycho-sexual thriller, ”The Second”.

Starring Rachel Blake (Lantana & Sleeping Beauty), Susie Porter (Don’t Tell, Hounds of Love, & Summer Coda), and Vince Colosimo (Chopper & Lantana), the film follows a successful author riding high on the international acclaim of her first book, a sexually explicit autobiography. But her success of the following book is threatened when her best friend and muse reveals the dark secret behind the memoir’s provenance.

The Second opened the Gold Coast Film Festival on April 17^th 2018 and is the first project developed and produced under Screen Queensland Originals program in partnership with the streaming service Stan. The film will have its theatrical release later this year by Mind Blowing World.

LevelK will bring the film to Cannes market.

Mairi Cameron’s first short Milk was selected for official competition at Cannes, won prizes at Palm Springs and Bilbao and was pre-selected for an Academy Award.

The film is produced by Leanne Tonkes with writer and producer Stephen Lance for Sense and Centsability and Dust Bunny Productions. Screen Queensland, Mind Blowing World, and The Post Lounge financed the film along with the filmmakers.
