LevelK boards sales on Haugesund Works In Progress psychological thriller ‘Disturbed’
EXCLUSIVE: LevelK has boarded sales rights on Bragi Thor Hinriksson’s psychological thriller Disturbed.
Currently in post-production, the Icelandic title will be presented today in the Works in Progress strand of New Nordic Films, the industry programme of The Norwegian International Film Festival Haugesund.
Disturbed follows Hera, a young lawyer in her thirties who moves into a ground floor flat in a rustic building in Reykjavik. Still recovering after a vicious sexual assault, Hera senses she is being watched; and her fragile state of mind is tested further when she discovers that a brutal murder took place in the flat two years earlier and the killer was never caught.
Þuríður Blær Jóhannsdóttir, Ólafía Hrönn Jónsdóttir, Arnar Dan Kristjánsson, Unnur Birna Jónsdóttir Backman and Kolbeinn Arnbjörnsson lead the cast.
Hinriksson directs from Helga Arnardóttir’s script, with Valdimir Kúld producing for H.M.S Productions. Backers include Icelandic local broadcaster Síminn, The Icelandic Film Centre, Rocket Road Pictures, Scanbox, Samfilm Iceland, Nordisk Film & TV Fond and H.M.S. Productions with 35% tax incentive.
“Disturbed dives into the fragile boundary between trauma and perception—where reality fractures and paranoia seeps in,” said Hinriksson. “[LevelK’s] deep industry expertise and bold vision align perfectly with the psychological intensity and emotional intricacy of our project.”
Disturbed becomes the second Haugesund WIP title on the LevelK slate alongside Finnish feature The Kidnapping of a President. The company is also representing Danish sequel The Food Club – Home Again and Swedish Gothenburg title Live a Little. Read the Screen exclusive here.
