Synopsis

The night of April 7th 1990, a fire erupts on the cruise ship Scandinavian Star, as it’s sailing between Oslo and Frederikshavn. 159 people pass away in the fire.
The disaster still stands as a clear memory for the surviving crew members and passengers, and for the inflicted relatives who were victims of the tragedy. But what really happened on that night, and why was the biggest arson in Scandinavia never solved?
The fire was an arson and it’s still the biggest unsolved murder case in Scandinavia. Today, 30 years later, the authorities have given up on trying to solve the case. But despite the many years of investigating, there are stills clues and witnesses who have never been investigated or interrogated by the Danish or Norwegian police. This has angered and frustrated the inflicted relatives, who are finding it difficult to accept the fact that they never got any answers.
The documentary series will pursue the many clues of this case, and seek out new witnesses, in a continuous search for the understanding of why it went so wrong and why the authorities never got any answers?
This is the story of Scandinavia’s biggest unsolved murder mystery, in recent times.
