Top 3 Best Selling Titles in 2017

Reaching the end of 2017, namely three films stand out. Sold to almost 300 countries all together, The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear, Sami Blood and Oddsockeaters have continuously impressed both buyers, festivals and audiences worldwide.

 

# 1: The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear: The local box office smash has been pre-sold to more than 100 countries across the world. Since 2016 the film has been picked up for distribution in China and Hong Kong (Bravos Pictures Ltd), Vietnam (GREEN MEDIA), South East Asia (ASTRO), Spain and Andorra (Pack Magic), and Russia/CIS (NDPlay/Kinologistika) amongst others. Directed by Philip Einstein Lipski, Amalie Næsby Fick and Jørgen Lerdam, the adventurous animation follows Mitcho and Sebastian, who sets out on a great journey full of peculiar hazards, dangerous pirates, ghosts and a huge underwater dragon, to help save the missing Mayor of Sunnytown and bring him home.

# 2. Sami Blood: After a continuous strong festival presence in 2017 screening at Sundance Film Festival and Berlinale amongst others, Sami Blood proceeded its sales success from 2016. The film has now been sold to 80 countries including The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg (ABC – CINEMIEN), US (Synergetic Distribution), Italy (Cineclub Internazionale Distribuzione), China (Lemon Tree) and Japan (UPLINK Co.). This important film tells the story of the 14th year old reindeer-herding Sami girl, Elle Marja. Exposed to the racism of the 1930's and race biology examinations at her boarding school she starts dreaming of another life, but to achieve it she must break all ties with her family and culture.

# 3. Oddsockeaters: Based on the best-selling books by Pavel Šrut, Galina Miklínová’s 3D family animation Oddsockeaters has been sold to more almost 80 countries including Korea (9ers Entertainment), China (Lemon Tree), Poland (Vivarto SP.ZO.O), and United Arab Emirates (Empire Networks LLP). Oddsockeaters is a warm-hearted story about the brave Hugo that must leave his safe haven and move in with his gangster uncle ‘Big Boss’ and two crazy cousins, who live in the house of their biggest adversary, a lonely professor.
