LevelK acquires Australian thriller Rabbit

LevelK has acquired world rights to Luke Shanahan’s upcoming thriller “Rabbit” starring Abbey Lee (The Neon Demon, Mad Max: Fury Road) and Alex Russell (Chronicle, Unbroken).

Commencing production in May 2016 in South Australia, first time director Luke Shanahan’s psychological thriller tells the story of 25-year old medical student Maude Ashton, who is haunted by visions of her identical twin’s violent abduction. Convinced she is still alive, Maude follows the clue to a derelict caravan park where she discovers her fate is intrinsically linked to that of her sister, while the entire experiment is controlled by a ‘secret society’ that likes to watch.

“The concept behind RABBIT was to introduce a horrific ‘event’ and explore a genetic link between identical twins and their ability to communicate telepathically. I was interested in exploring how two characters, sharing 99 percent of the same DNA, deal with such feelings of loss, pain and guilt.” – Director Luke Shanahan

Rabbit is written and directed by up-and-coming director Luke Shanahan (shorts: It Takes Two To Tango and The News) and produced by David Ngo for Longshot Films and Projector Films, with support from South Australian Film Coroporation, Fulcrum Media, The Cutting Room Post Production, Digital Artisan. Local distribution is to be handled by Vendetta and for the rest of the world by LevelK.
