LevelK at Toronto International Film Festival 2019

Dear Friends,

We're very excited to bring you our lineup for this year's edition of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Screening this year is MARIA'S PARADISE, which is selected for the Contemporary World Cinema section (Publicist: Jessica Uzzan, Hook Publicity, [email protected]).

MARIA's PARADISE is the latest feature from the highly acclaimed Finnish director Zaida Bergroth, whose prior film, Miami (2017), was also selected for the festival. With her latest work, Bergroth has made a skillfully crafted, emotionally engaging period piece about a charismatic preacher and her devout followers in the 1920's. Local distribution by Nordisk Film. The film is based on true events and will have five screenings as listed below this text.

Our lineup also includes CAPTAIN BIMSE, an adventurous Danish family film based on one of the most beloved Danish kids' books of all time. With visual flair and playfull performances, the film follows a 7-year old girl who finds herself on board an imaginary airplane led by the enigmatic Captain Bimse. From here, a magical journey unfolds. The trailer will be on our website on Friday. Local distribution by 41 Shadows.

We're also bringing the Australian family film H IS FOR HAPPINESS, a vibrant and heartwarming family film starring Miriam Margoyals (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Richard Roxburgh (Hacksaw RidgeMoulin Rouge) and the incredibly talented newcomer Daisy Axon. H IS FOR HAPPINESS had its world premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival earlier this month, and here, the film was not only met by ecstatic crowd reactions but also received this great review in Screen. Local distribution by Universal.

Last, but not least is PHOTOGRAPHER OF WAR, an intense and intimate documentary feature about the world-renowned Danish war photographer Jan Grarup. The production of the film took an unexpected turn when Grarup's ex-wife was suddenly diagnosed with cancer, a tragic conflict which is unflinchingly portrayed in the film. PHOTOGRAPHER OF WAR is selected for main competition at Nordisk Panorama, where it will have its world premiere. Local distribution by Camera Film.

Finally, we will also be presenting our two extremely well-received summer titles, BELLBIRD and I WAS, I AM, I WILL BE. While Screen called BELLBIRD "a deeply felt slice-of-life delight" after premiering at Sydney Film Festival (read full Screen review), the double Munich International Film Festival award-winner I WAS, I AM, I WILL BE was praised for its "unshowy approach" and for "cutting deeper than expected" (read full Screen review).

Our Sales & Acquisitions Manager Lauren Valmadre will be attending TIFF from September 5th – 10th.
Meanwhile, the rest of the LevelK Team will assist from Copenhagen.

Best regards,
The LevelK Team
