LevelK at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

We look forward to seeing you in Karlovy Vary where we represent two titles selected for competition. Our Head of Sales, Debra Liang will be attending the festival from 2-5 of July.

Selected for the Crystal Globe Competition is the Czech period-drama set in the 1930's WE HAVE NEVER BEEN MODERN, by director Matěj Chlupáček. We follow Helena, who is about to give birth and face a rosy future in a modern city, as the pregnant wife of an important factory manager. However, all her illusions soon perish, as the dead body of a newborn intersex baby is found in the middle of their factory. Helena needs to find out what happened here for the safety of her own child, but she runs into her own prejudices.

Also competing in the Crystal Globe Competition is the Bulgarian drama BLAGA'S LESSONS by director Stephan Komandarev.
When a retired, recently widowed teacher falls prey to a phone scam, she’s left robbed of her life savings and without any money for her late husband’s grave. Her life is turned upside down until she receives an alluring, yet suspicious work offer. The tables turn as she takes matters into her own hands and cash begins rolling in, this time claiming her most prized attribute:Her values, as she slowly and surely transforms into the scammer herself.
